In the U-20 Cup Final, the favourites Buccaneers overcame their old rivals Galwegians by 18-6 at the Sportsground on Saturday evening. These sides had already met on a few occasions earlier this season, with the Buccaneers winning comfortably each time. But they were certainly put up to it by Wegians who were well in the contest for long periods. But some crucial missed penalties meant that Wegians could never quite narrow the gap, and so the trophy deservedly returns to the Athlone/Ballinasloe outfit.

The U-16 Cup has gone to Corinthians. The Cloonacauneen youngsters had a deserved 20-10 victory against a gallant Sligo team who showed much promise for the future.
