Movember - the month formally known as November - is an annual charity event held during November. It raises funds for men's health specifically prostate cancer. For the second year running the Connacht Rugby Squad are participating in the event and all monies raised will go directly to local charity Cancer Care West. Movember started at the beginning of the month where the Connacht Rugby squad were clean shaven. They then have to grow and maintain their facial hair until the end of the month raising money along the way. On the last day of the month there will be a judging as to who has won Man of Movember and John Maguire from Fat Tony's has sponsored the hot towel shave for the winner. Interestingly Connacht play Ulster in Ravenhill on Friday 28th November and this match will be shown live on Setanta. All Connacht team players will have full facial hair playing as will many of the English, Scottish and Welsh teams playing during the month of November. People wishing to donate money for this very important and necessary charity event can do so by going to the Cancer Care Website and donating directly http://www.cancercarewest.ie/menu.asp?menu=114 or by sending donations directly to Cancer Care West ref: Movember, UCHG, Galway or to Connacht Rugby ref: Movember, The Sportsground, College Rd.
