 A Fionn Carr try just before the break gave Connacht real hope after Stephen Harris and Timoci Nagusa punished defensive errors with tries. Ian Keatley, who landed a 22ndminute penalty, converted Carr's third try of the Magners League, although Ian Humphreys kicked a penalty to give Ulster a 20-10 half-time lead. Keatley responded with a penalty after the restart but just when it seemed Connacht were poised to launch a bid for a Belfast victory, Ulster hit back with a Simon Danielli try to turn the tie in their favour and they ran out easy winners with four more tries before the end.
