The 28-year old will reach the milestone in the Europea Challenge Cup quarter-final against Northampton in Franklin’s Gardens. He will join Eric Elwood as the only player to chalk up a century and a half of caps for the province. ‘Bruce’, as he is known, came to Connacht in 2003 from his native Australia and has since been capped at Ireland A level. And he reckons that there could be a double celebration on Saturday by helping Connacht reach the quarter-finals of the European Challenge Cup for the third time in history. “It is a one-off cup match and anything can happen. We are all looking for to it,” he said. He said it is a huge honour to reach the 150 cap milestone and puts a lot of it down to good fortune on the injury front. “There are other players who’ve been here as long as I have but I’ve been fortunate to have stayed in the team the whole time and stay injury free,” he added. |
