| Kidney to be Guest of Honour at awards ceremony | |||||

![]() Irish coach Declan Kidney will be guest of honour at the Connacht Player Awards night. And former Irish international Brendan Guerin from Galwegians will be presented with the Hall of Fame award on the night. The Connacht Players Awards takes place next Saturday, May 16, in the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa. Former Connacht player Mervyn Murphy, the video analyst to the Irish rugby team for several years, will also be acknowledged for his role in Ireland's Grand Slam success. The awards event is to acknowledge and reward outstanding players in their categories from schoolboy, underage, junior and senior club players right up to professional level. Tickets are €85 per ticket or €850 for a table of ten and are available from the Connacht Branch office at the Sportsground on 091 561568. The event is black tie. The event promises to be a great night with a drinks reception at 7:30pm followed by a four-course meal at 8pm. The awards will take place after dinner and there will be dancing until late. This is a fitting end to an exciting rugby season at a time when rugby is fantastically popular in Ireland.
