The out-half made no mistake with a penalty from the left to salvage something from a game which was decided in the third quarter when Connacht had two players in the bin. Former All-Black Jerry Collins got in for the only try of the game when the Ospreys had the numerical advantage. Connacht led 6-3 at the break but they should have been further ahead after creating the better attacking opportunities with the wind at their backs. But Dan Biggar got the Welsh off the mark with a drop goal before Ian Keatley equalised and then pushed Connacht in front with a second penalty. Biggar equalised with a penalty after the restart and then as Mike McComish and Frank Murphy were sin-binned, the Ospreys pushed 16-6 in front. Keatley kept Connacht within distance with another penalty but the Ospreys sealed the win when James Hook landed a 40 metres penalty after coming on to out ten points between them. But Connacht deservedly secured a bonus point thanks to Keatley’s late penalty.
