Connacht secured a well deserved and closely contested 22 - 21 win at the Sportsground over title contenders Edinburgh on Good Friday.

A try by Brian Tuohy after eight minutes following an Ian Keatley penalty gave Connacht a good start.

Keatley then extended Connachts lead to 11 - 0 with a well struck drop goal after just 13 minutes. The home side didn't have it all their own way though, with Edinburgh scoring two converted tries from Tim Visser and Mark Robertson before the break to lead by 14-11.

Keatley scored an intercept try after sprinting from inside his own 10m line six minutes after the restart and though he failed to convert it he made ammends with a penalty under the posts 10 minutes later.

Roddy Grant hit back with Edinburgh's third try and Phil Godman edged them 21-19 in front going into the final quarter with his third conversion.

However, Connacht battled on and deservedly took the spoils as Miah Nikora's 75th minute penalty was to prove to be the winning score.
