Early preasure from Connacht saw the visiting side go 5 points up after 15 minutes when Brian Tuohy scored in the corner, Keatley, on for the injured Griffin, was unable to add the conversion but 4 minutes later Connacht scored another try after Brian Tuohy dotted down a Miah Nikora crossfield kick. Edinburgh responded with a penalty and a converted try from full back Chris Patterson to leave the half time score 10 points all.
A Tim Visser try and 3 penalties gave Edinburgh the advantage in the second half but Connacht kept the scoreboard ticking over through the boot of Ian Keatley. Edinburgh’s captain Roddy Grant was sin-binned with 13 minutes to go as both sides played attacking rugby but failed with the final execution. Standout performances from Michael Swift, captain John Muldoon, Johnny O’Connor and Gavin Duffy, as well as assured kicking from Miah Nikora and Ian Keatley.
