Early preasure from Connacht saw the visiting side go 5 points up after 15 minutes when Brian Tuohy scored in the corner, Keatley, on for the injured Griffin, was unable to add the conversion but 4 minutes later Connacht scored another try after Brian Tuohy dotted down a Miah Nikora crossfield kick. Edinburgh responded with a penalty and a converted try from full back Chris Patterson to leave the half time score 10 points all.

A Tim Visser try and 3 penalties gave Edinburgh the advantage in the second half but Connacht kept the scoreboard ticking over through the boot of Ian Keatley. Edinburgh’s captain Roddy Grant was sin-binned with 13 minutes to go as both sides played attacking rugby but failed with the final execution.
