Preseason fitness testing is underway at Connacht Rugby. Using the latest technology and split second timing the coaches are able to accurately measure the capabilities of the players such as speed, strength and endurance. The squad arrived back yesterday and testing continued early this morning, with a 2.4km run in Dangan planned for this afternoon. Mike McCarthy made it through the sessions and had this to say: “It’s great to be back in to the swing of things, meeting the new players and the guys from last year but the testing is very tough. We’re all looking forward to finishing the testing and getting stuck into proper training tomorrow.”
Connacht have 3 preseason matches lined up for August, with the RaboDirect Pro12 set to start in early September. Aviva Premiership sides Exeter Chiefs and Saracens, along with a select Ireland XV will provide Eric Elwood’s men with the necessary game time before the season kicks off.
Season tickets are still on sale and with places limited supporters are urged to buy their tickets early either from the Connacht Rugby Website www.connachtrugby.ie or by calling the Branch Offices on 091 561568.
