Dubarry Park announced as the home of the Connacht Eagles Connacht Rugby are delighted to announce that the Connacht Eagles will play their home fixtures in Dubarry Park this season. The Athlone venue will stage the province’s British & Irish Cup matches beginning with the visit of English Championship club Newcastle Falcons on Friday, October 19th. This floodlit game kicks off at 7.45 pm Connacht Rugby’s Head of Marketing Alex Saul is delighted with the decision to bring international rugby to another region within the province. “This gives rugby fans from the wider midlands region and the west the opportunity to see the talent coming up through the Connacht ranks. This is a very exciting year for the Eagles and we were keen to give them their own identity with a different home venue.” The B&I competition will attract quality opposition to Athlone. As well as the Newcastle Falcons, Welsh clubs Cross Keys (last season’s runners-up to Munster) and Newport RFC make up the quartet in Connacht’s pool in the B&I competition. Ahead of the first game this Saturday 13th October, when the Eagles take on Newport, we spoke with Head Coach Nigel Carolan:
