Connacht made it six consecutive PRO12 wins with a dramatic 7-6 victory over Leinster at the Sportsground today.

As was the case in the same fixture last season, scrum half Kieran Marmion scored the only try of the game and Pat Lam’s men held out a strong Leinster side to hold on to top spot on the table.

Outhalf AJ MacGinty converted Marmion’s 13th minute try while Leinster were kept scoreless going in at half time.

Half time: Connacht 7 – 0 Leinster

But after the break, the visitors had the wind at their back and Ian Madigan kicked two from two penalty attempts on 41 and 62 minutes. With two minutes on the clock and just one point separating the sides, Leinster looked to have the advantage with a five-metre scrum. But Connacht’s defence held strong and they forced a knock on, much to the delight of the sell-out, 7, 300-strong crowd in Galway.

Full time: Connacht 7 – 6 Leinster
