The Grant Thornton Stand is an additional seated and covered stand that is in place at the Sportsground for the 2016/17 season. The new stand, with allocated seating, will be located to the side of the Main Stand and will seat 300 supporters. Tickets for the Grant Thornton Stand are now on sale.

Only Adult Tickets will be available to purchase for the Grant Thornton seated stand and tickets start at €32.50 for category 2 games and €37.50 for category 1 games. Tickets are available online from, from selected Centra & SuperValu stores province-wide and from the Connacht Rugby office at the Sportsground.

Season Ticket Holders will have the option to upgrade to this area subject to availability on a match by match basis. Upgrade purchases are available on match day only and from the ticket box office (open 90 minutes before kick-off). The Season Ticket upgrade fee will be €10 for all games. All upgrades are granted on a first come first served basis.

Season Ticket 2017/18 Information

The renewal window for Season Tickets for the 2017/18 season will open on Wednesday March 1st 2017 at 10am. The renewal window will remain open for 24 days.

This year the renewal period will be split into two phases, a renewal and a relocation phase.

Phase 1: Renewal

During the renewal phase, you can only renew into your current section; e.g. Clan Terrace can only renew into Clan Terrace, Main Terrace can only renew into Main Terrace and Enclosure Season Ticket holders can only renew into the Enclosure.

Phase 2: Relocation

Wed March 15th  – 10:00 Fri March 24th  – 17:00

During this relocation period, if there is space you can move to another area of the ground. This is strictly on a first come first served basis until that area of the ground is sold out.

It is important to note that once you renew your Season Ticket to a certain area, it cannot be changed to another location after that.

If you wish to relocate to another area then you should wait until the relocation phase opens on March 15th. Please note that if your current area sells out after March 14th we cannot guarantee your Season Ticket renewal into this area will still be available.


General Sale

Following the renewal period, the Early Bird Season Tickets will go on sale, depending on availability. This period will last for 30 days.

What different Season Tickets types are available?

  • Adult: Adult (18+) tickets for the Clan Terrace and Main Terrace.  Applies to adults born before 1/5/2000.
  • Enclosure: Tickets for the Enclosure area (unreserved seating and standing room).
  • Concession – Student / Senior / Wheelchair accessible: 16-18 year olds, students and seniors over 65 and wheelchair users. To be eligible for a Concession Season Ticket as a Student you must be between 16 and 18 years of age, i.e. born between 01/05/2000 and 01/05/2002 (identification [ID] required), or have valid third level student ID. To be eligible for a Concession Season Ticket as a Senior you must be born before 01/05/1953 (ID required). All IDs will be required to be produced for entry at all home fixtures. Please note that the name and date of birth on the ID provided must match that issued on the Season Ticket card.
  • Junior: Children aged under 16. To be eligible for a junior tickets children must be born after 1/5/2002. Proof of age is required.
  • Family: 2 Adult and 2 Junior Season Tickets

Connacht Eagles


Connacht Rugby encompasses the professional rugby team which competes in both the Guinness PRO12 and in the European Champions Cup. The Connacht Rugby Branch is also responsible for administrating the game of rugby at grassroots level throughout the counties of Galway, Mayo, Leitrim, Roscommmon and Sligo.

The Connacht Eagles are Connacht Rugby’s ‘A’ side, competing in the British & Irish Cup as well as having interprovincial fixtures against Leinster, Munster, and Ulster. The side is made up of Professional, Development, Academy and Club players.

Both teams player their home games at the Sportsground in Galway, which can normally hold up 8, 000 spectators.

Connacht Rugby were crowned 2015/16 PRO12 champions, beating Leinster 20-10 at BT Murrayfield on May 28th 2016.
