Connacht put in a dominant display at the Sportsground today to secure a bonus point win over the league leaders Scarlets. The four tries came from an impressive display from the forwards pack with Jake Heenan touching down twice in the first half, both times on the back of a catch and drive. Man of the Match Denis Buckley was at the back of the maul to score after the break and replacement tighthead Rodney Ah You barged his way over to secure the try bonus point after the hour mark. Out half Jack Carty kicked four from seven and 10 points in windy conditions.

Scarlets were kept to zero in the first half but their back play sparked to life after the restart and winger DTH Van der Merwe got over for his sides first try. Outhalf Aled Thomas was on target with the conversion to add to his earlier penalty and he was up to the tee six minutes from full time when centre Gareth Owen touched down for another five points. But Connacht, down to 14 men after a yellow card to Dave Heffernan, put in a stellar defensive display to keep an attacking Scarlets from scoring in the dying moments and prevent any chance of a losing bonus point for the visitors.
