It was a disappointing game and result for Connacht Rugby this afternoon as they recorded their second loss of the season, going down 33 – 13 to the Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park.

The English Premiership club scored five tries with Will Chudley,  Henry Slade,  Damien Welch,  Dave Ewers and Ben White all crossing the Connacht line. Former Ireland underage outhalf Gareth Steenson converted four out of five scores.

Wing Fionn Carr marked his 100th Connacht appearance with a solo run from the half way line for his side’s only try of the game. Ronaldson added the second half conversion to his earlier brace of penalties.

The Chiefs now top pool 2 with today’s bonus point win and sit two points above second-placed Connacht.
