With more Connacht schools competing in the schools rugby competitions than ever before, there have been a number of success stories in the sport across the province.

Rugby is flourishing in Sacred Heart School, Westport, thanks to the close partnership between the school and local club Westport RFC.

The school has enjoyed phenomenal success in recent years and have continued that fine tradition in this campaign. The Sacred Heart School Girls team recently captured the Connacht Schoolgirl Sevens titles for both the U18 and U15 age-groups and will represent Connacht in the All-Ireland Rugby Sevens in Dublin.

After presenting the trophies to the respective captains, the Connacht Rugby Schools President, Chris Davies, said: “This is a massive opportunity for these young ladies and we are extremely proud that they are representing Connacht Schools at a national competition, everyone at Connacht Rugby wishes them the best of luck.”
