Monivea Rugby Club were delighted to welcome first and second class pupils from 10 local national schools to the grounds recently.

Connacht Rugby’s Peter O’Hara helped co-ordinate the event with the children demonstrating their passion for the game and some great skills were on display from all schools in attendance.

There were 156 children playing a series of five matches and there was plenty to smile about under the floodlights.

The club very kindly provided light refreshments that were much appreciated by the parents in attendance.

Peter O’Hara was very happy with how the event unfolded as the young pupils enjoyed a night of rugby at their local club.

“I would like to thank fellow Connacht Rugby staff members Charlie Couper, Will Thornton and Lyndon Jones for their help,” said Peter.

“Not forgetting key people such as Padraig McGann, the Monivea ground staff, coaches and volunteers for their help and time.”
