Breakdown workshop at Sligo RFC
Our Coach Development Department held a Breakdown Workshop at Sligo RFC for 25 coaches last week.

The workshop was specifically designed for coaches of youth and adult rugby with Coach Development Officer Gavin Foley co-ordinating the event.

Provincial Talent Coach Colm Tucker held two presentations on the night, indoor and outdoor, with the aim to develop all-round skills and game-understanding of the players around the breakdown.

Following the workshop, Gavin Foley said: "I'd like to firstly thank Colm Tucker for his great presentation on the night. Feedback from all the coaches was very positive and they seemed to get a lot out of it which they will take back to their rugby sessions.

"I'd also like to thank the Sligo U16 players who helped out in the drills in the outdoor presentation and Sligo RFC for the use of their clubhouse and pitch."

Sligo RFC Coach Hugh O'Hehir said: "Thanks to Gavin for organising this workshop in Sligo RFC and also to Colm for presenting.

"Both myself and the U16 coaches found the workshop very professional, informative and very valuable, it provided us with very useful guidance on the various drills we can use during our training sessions.

"The workshop explained how players should be organised and compete around the breakdown, the U16 players who took part in the drills were also hugely impressed."
