FOUR BUCCANEERS players have been named in Ireland rugby squads. Rodney Ah You is a surprise addition to clubmate Robbie Henshaw in an extended Ireland Senior panel. With a dearth of props, the South Sea Islander and Connacht front-rower could well be included in the Ireland A Wolfhounds who play the English Saxons shortly while much interest will focus on whether or not Henshaw can continue his rapid rise through the ranks and possibly be among the names in the Six Nations squad.

Closer to home, Jacob Walshe and Rory Moloney were named in a 28-man Ireland U-20 panel preparing for the forthcoming ELECTRIC IRELAND U-20 Six Nations Championship fixtures which are again being staged at Dubarry Park, Athlone. Ireland host Scotland in the opener on Friday week, January 31st.

USA born Walshe played with Ballinasloe and honed his skills at Garbally College before a move to Cistercian College, Roscrea, whom he helped reach a Leinster Senior Schools Cup final. The mobile prop is a member of Connacht’s Academy and has featured for the Eagles in the British & Irish Cup. He has been capped by Ireland at U-18 and U-19 levels.

Flanker Moloney was a teammate of Walshe’s in that Cistercian College team. Current Ireland U-19 captain, he is a native of Abbeyleix and played club rugby with Portlaoise. He progressed to the Ireland U-18s via two seasons with Leinster before transferring to Connacht. He played with the Eagles in this year’s British & Irish Cup.

With Niamh Ni Dhroma already in the Ireland Womens Elite Sevens squad, it looks like being another splendid season on the representative front for Buccaneers. Everyone at the club wishes all the players continued success.
