AIT Lions play Buccaneers in women's rugby match

AIT Lions women's rugby team played against Buccaneers women in a match in Dubarry Park recently. Dreadful weather seems to follow this Lions team around and the weather here was truly atrocious from start to finish. Both teams acquitted themselves well in the conditions, in which Buccaneers were playing their ever women's rugby match. Great credit is due to Tom O Reilly, Kieran Sloyan and Lorna Stewart-Trainor for their work with the Buccaneers women.  Lorna is also involved with the Lions team which is coached by Clem Higginbotham, who is ably assisted by James Kennedy. Charlie Couper refereed the match with his usual excellence.
Among the try scorers for the Lions were Claire Moore, Giusy Puliery and Pat Contreros, on her last appearance for the Lions before returning back to Spain. Meanwhile for the Buccaneers, Alison Hamilton scored the pick of the tries.
The Lions squad is as follows: Emma Grennan, Amanda Scally, Laura Higgins, Tracy Keenan, Vanessa McDonald, Natasha Elliot, Orla Cawley, Patricia Contreros, Vanessa Keena, Sharon Flaherty, Elaine Brady, Marie Flynn, Rosie Hogan, Stephanie Cullen, Claire Moore (C), Guisy Pulieri, Jen Hayes, and Eimear Raftery
