Ballina Girls’ Mini Rugby has been in action for four years. Cameron Clotworthy, head of Ballina Mini Rugby at the time, took the plunge and invited girls to join a mini girls’ group . Today, there are currently 34 Girls playing Mini Rugby in Ballina. Over the years, national team members and sisters, Kayleigh and Mairead Hopkins have helped to coach the girls. They are outstanding in their commitment to Ballina Mini Girls Rugby combining patience and gentleness in their encouragement of these young players as they help them develop their own rugby skills and fitness. The U 12s have also benefitted this year from coaching input from Ballina’s senior team players and the Ballina Minis chairperson Alistair Brown. The U 10s have had an exciting introduction to tackling under the guidance of their head coach, Dave Moyles and assistant coach Hannah. The girls train on Saturday mornings 10-11.30 at Creggs Road, Ballina. New members are very welcome. Please contact Alistair Brown at [email protected]
