Over 140 secondary schoolboys took part in the U14 Regional Blitz in Corinthian Park on Thursday last. The event, organised by Connacht’s Club & Community Rugby Officer Conor Galvin, was a huge success, played out in glorious weather conditions in the excellent facilities of Corinthians RFC. Schools from all across the county of Galway were represented, from the city there was the Bish, St Endas and the Jes, Calasanctius Oranmore, St Jarlaths Tuam, Scoil Chuimsiteach Chiaráin Carraroe and St Pauls Oughterard.
There was a lot of organising to make the event happen and Lead CCRO Conor Galvin was full of praise for those who helped out:
“We’ve had some great support from the teachers and principals in the schools involved. They’ve given up countless hours to ensure these young players get the best opportunity to enjoy the game at its best, culminating in events like this and when you see the enjoyment the players get out of playing against their peers it’s definitely worth the effort. We’d be nowhere without the referees so a big thanks to Ja Naughton, Matt Henderson and Eamonn Molloy for their help today and of course to Corinthians for the use of their great facilities.”
