Three Blitzes were held last week in the East Connacht area. The first blitz was held on Tuesday in Dubarry Park and was attended by around 300 national schools children who enjoyed an exciting day of fun and rugby. Many thanks to all the teachers and principals who made the day such a success.

The next blitz was held on Thursday at Creggs RFC where the national schools. boys and girls enjoyed a training and playing day. In the morning the children were coached in different skills and after lunch they played games to show their new found skills. 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class boys played games at their own level and the girls played games among themselves in what was a wonderful experience for the huge turnout.

Lastly on a dry day in Buccaneers RFC 1st years from the local secondary schools played in a 10 a side blitz. Eight teams played each other in a highly skilled entertaining set of games and the exciting talent on view bodes well for the future.

Many thanks to Declan McKeon, Rory O’Connor, Liam Callaghan, Connor Galvin and everyone who helped during the week.
