BUCCS LADIES IN IRELAND SQUAD

TWO BUCCANEERS players have been named in the Emerging Ireland Womens Sevens panel. Niamh Ni Dhroma and Sinead Taylor were included in this Ireland squad that participated in an international competition in the UK last weekend.  This is remarkable, swift progress for these two girls, both key figures in Buccs march to the Connacht League title. Sinead joined the Athlone club this season and her strong running from centre yielded a steady stream of scores. Niamh also played in Buccaneers debut season, in which they won the Connacht Cup, and she has been a consistently exciting and precocious talent for the midlanders. Congratulations and best wishes, girls, from all in the club.

GOLF CLASSIC ON JULY 11th

TAG RUGBY

THE TAG RUGBY SUMMER LEAGUE shortly enters the second half of this year’s tournament at Buccaneers. Blessed by fine weather every Thursday night to date, the event is proving hugely enjoyable with the social side going particularly well. Difficult to pick out prospective champions yet but, amid the splash of colour, the Pink Pirates attire stands out!

VOTE FOR ‘THE BOUNTY’

THE BOUNTY BAR & RESTAURANT is again one of the nominations in this year’s ‘Best Carvery in Ireland’ competition. The Bounty is in the Best Pub Carvery section for Leinster and voting is now open until Sunday, July 7th.

To cast your vote for The Bounty, log on to www.greatcarvery.com and follow the simple steps on the screen, remembering that The Bounty is in the Leinster section of Best Pub Carvery and you can tick your vote for them on page 4 there. Alternatively, text PUB followed by the venue name The Bounty to 51500. The Bounty was a worthy finalist last year and your votes are important to having it included again in this year’s contenders.

LUCKY LIONS

The British & Irish Lions were decidedly fortunate to defeat Australia in the opening test in Brisbane but, hopefully, they will now build on that victory to win the series. An intrepid small band of supporters from Buccaneers headed down under last week just in time for the first test and, no doubt, they are enjoying the trip. Meanwhile, those who did not or could not travel can savour some of the atmosphere by watching the test matches in The Bounty on Saturday mornings from 10.30 a.m.

KILLIAN FOXE

Buccs Notes 350Young Buccaneers player KILLIAN FOXE, who suffered a nasty injury last season, was the recipient of a surprise presentation at the recent Buccaneers Youths Awards evening when he was presented with signed Ireland and Buccaneers jerseys by ROBBIE HENSHAW. Killian was nearly speechless on the occasion!

Meanwhile, we congratulate ROBBIE on adding to his Senior debut against the USA Eagles by coming on as a substitute in Ireland’s win over Canada. Robbie has certainly earned his Senior contract with Connacht. Well done too to Daniel Qualter and David Heffernan who have also signed Senior contracts, the latter now concentrating on the hooker berth.

Jack Carty, Conor Finn and Shane Layden are now in the Connacht Academy Third Year with Peter Reilly and Steve Macauley in Year Two. Saba Meunargia and Jacob Walshe join Conor Kindregan in Year One.

LOTTO

BUCCANEERS LOTTO JACKPOT is now €4,800. Thank you to all who continue to support our Lotto.
