Buccs Reserves Continue Winning ways

Buccaneers 32
Loughrea 10

The Buccaneers Juniors maintained their recent impressive form avenging an opening week defeat beating Loughrea 32-10 in their J1B encounter on Athlone’s Dubarry Park.
As important as the win was another vital bonus point squeezing the gap between first-placed Ballinasloe to three table points and second-placed Buccs with a game to play.
While Buccs fielded a much-changed backline they were able to call on their consistent and formidable pack which proved a telling and dominant force throughout.
Loughrea, commendable in the forwards, fought to gain parity up front and as a result struggled to contain Buccs’ expansive gameplan.
Marcus Madden made a welcome return for the hosts and capped-off his performance with a typically opportunist try, while Adam Kennedy returned to action with a fine contribution including a try and admirable goal-kicking. He received ample backline support from Deccie Byrne while James Tormey and Padraig de Burca were immense in the forwards contest.

Buccaneers: T.Hynes; G.Fallon, R.Walsh, D.Byrne, K.Naughton; A.Kennedy, C.Molloy; M.Staunton, M.Madden, B.Gilligan (captain); R.Byrne, J.Tormey; P. de Burca, H.Reilly and A.Hughes. Replacements: P.Hynes, D.Lennon and L.Doran.
