However, this Connacht Rugby team have built The Sportsground into a fortress. In 2023 Connacht Rugby have not lost there. Our fans, our staff, and our team will all be out to make sure that record stays intact.

Our fortress in the West is the place where champions are forged, and each of these showdowns promises to be a fierce examination of skill, strength, and determination. So, will you be there to see four teams take the test?

The Games

Ballinasloe RFC

Ballinasloe RFC is over 140 years old with womens, mens and underage sides all represented.

Ballinasloe is currently offering a five day Summer Camp from Monday July 29th to Friday 2nd August.

Connacht vs. Bordeaux, December 8th

Next up to face the Test is Bordeaux Begles on December 8th. Anticipate a fierce battle, with both sides looking to start their Investec Champions Cup campaign with a win. Bordeaux will want to step onto our turf, The Sportsground, and come away with a win, just like Connacht famously did in 1997, becoming the first Irish team to beat both French and English opposition away from home in a professional European competition.

Connacht vs. Munster, January 1st

An historic rivalary. A New Year's clash for the ages. Munster, current BKT URC Champions, step up to face The Test in the West at 3pm on New Year's Day. Connacht beat Munster in the same fixture last year, and neither side will be coming for anything less than a comprehensive victory.

Connacht vs. Bristol, January 19th

The exciting climax to The Test in the West sees a lot of familiar faces come to town. Pat Lam's Bristol Bears, including Connacht Rugby legend (we don't mind saying it!) Kieran Marmion, will be coming to The Sportsground. As great as it will be to see these guys once more, both sides will be itching to come out on top, in a match that will no doubt have a huge impact on both Investec Champions Cup campaigns.
