MINIS
CARRICK U10 – TRIP TO CONNACHT MATCH AND CONNACHT BLITZ
Carrick-on-Shannon U10?s have had a busy end to the ?09/?10 season which saw
them travel to Galway on Good Friday for the Connacht v Edinburgh in the Magners
League.
They had the honour of participating in a guard of honour for
the teams and also played an exhibition match at half time. They also had the privilege of
meeting with Connach Coach Michael Bradley and took the opportunity to wish
Michael well in his future rugby endeavours when he leaves Connacht at the
end of the season. Our visit to the Galway Sportsgrounds was topped off with
a fantastic win by Connacht which proves that our annual visit must be lucky
for Connacht them having beaten Leinster on our last visit in 2008
On Saturday 10 April the U10?s travelled to Ballina to take part in the
Connacht U10 Blitz. With games against Bucaneers, Claremorris, Ballinasloe
and Westport a great time was had by all and rounded off another successful
season for the Mini?s. Our thanks to Daragh Quinn & our friends at Ballina
RFC for organising a great blitz and for their hospitality.
Finally, with our season now at an end our thanks must go to all the players
and coaches who turned up in all weathers for training, blitzes etc and to
the parents who travelled and provided transport for others as we travelled
throughout Connacht.
We look forward to seeing all our Mini?s back in September for the new
season.
SHANE LAYDEN
Well done to Carrick native Shane Layden, son of club delegate Peter, who featured for the Irish Under-18 Clubs team which finished second in the FIRA-AER U-18 European Championship in Treviso today, having lost out in the final to France.
Shane featured in all three games, scoring a try in the semi finals.
