Castlebar 24   Sligo 0

Castlebar u13 rugby team had a great victory over Sligo at Cloondesh on Saturday under wet and windy conditions. The game kicked off early and after a brisk start Castlebar winger Colm Quinn made a great break down the touchline to put Dylon Cannon through for a brilliant try under the posts. This try was unerringly converted by Karl Benson to put the home side ahead 7-0 after only four minutes. Both teams were playing very well despite the inclement weather conditions and following a scrum on the half way line mid way through the first half and some good driving by the forwards the ball was passed out along the backline at pace where the aforementioned Colm Quinn was again on hand to touch down in the corner. Castlebar deservedly led at the interval by 12pts to nil for Sligo.
The second half was almost an exact replica of the first with Castlebar making a good start with the aid of a stiff breeze. The forwards and backs integrated well and in one sweeping move a great run from forty metres and try by Pat Corless again converted by the accurate boot of Karl Benson ensured an inevitable victory for the home side. Another super solo try ten minuets from the end by Paul Walsh made sure the large contingent of local supporters went home happy with another convincing victory.
The following is the panel of players that participated and each of them performed heroically.
