The Cawley Cup Final will take place this Sunday at Crowley Park in Galway.

This year’s finalists are Junior League toppers Sligo RFC and 3rd place Ballina RFC.

After receiving a bye in the first round, Sligo beat last year’s title holders Castlebar 24 12 in Hamilton Park before travelling to Loughrea and overcoming the hosts 40 12 in the quarter final. Sligo were drawn Monivea at home in the semi final and the fixture doubled up as their league match in a ‘winner takes all’ style challenge. Sligo came away with the spoils in a 30 20 thriller and booked their place in the final.

Ballina beat Dunmore 65 3 in the opening round of the cup before keeping Gort scorless in a 54 0 drubbing in Heffernan Park. They went on to beat Portumna  29 5 in the quarter final and OLBC 26 8 in the semi final back in February.
