Connacht’s Spirit of Rugby Working Group are delighted to present the latest piece of collateral in the ongoing campaign to instil the values of rugby into everyday practices.

The redesigned Codes of Conduct for players and supporters have been personalised, printed in large scale format and delivered to each club across the province.

Speaking about the project the Working Groups Youth Rep, Luke O’Donnell, said:
“It’s great to see the Codes of Conduct brought to life in a visually impactful way. They’ll serve as a gentle reminder that when we get together as a rugby community we agree to certain standards of behaviour. These behaviours are what has kept rugby going throughout it’s long history and are what continue to provide a sporting environment that it fun, safe and respectful for all.”

The boards combine the Spirit of Rugby logo along with the crests of Connacht Rugby, the IRFU and each of the provinces 26 member clubs, displaying a united front when it comes to the core values of rugby.

Spirit of Rugby Officer Luke Murphy added:
“We’re delighted to bring this project up and running, to bring the values of rugby to life through offering simple yet powerful behaviours that players and supporters can display. Rugby has a wonderful heritage and as we grow the game beyond its traditional boundaries these Codes of Conduct help remind us of some of the elements that make it the fantastic sport we all love”
“It’s brilliant to see Connacht’s Spirit of Rugby Working Group get behind this initiative in such a robust manner, the funding to support it has come from fines within the Club & Community disciplinary system in instances where the values of the game were not upheld so to see Paddy Durcan (Chairperson of the Working Group) and Joe Gorham (Head of Rugby Development) allocate the funding to this initiative shows the importance placed on the subject.”

Connacht’s Spirit of Rugby Working Group are always on the lookout for diverse and innovative volunteers with no rugby experience necessary. If you feel you have something to offer get in touch with Connacht’s Spirit of Rugby Officer Luke Murphy on 087 9023890 to discuss.
