Big Weekend In Connacht Junior League

Connemara host Ballina in the big game of the weekend.

There is another crunch weekend of action in the Connacht Junior League coming up with teams battling it out at both ends of the table in all three divisons.

The big game of the weekend sees the top two clash in J1A as Connemara host leaders Ballina on Sunday in a match that will go a long way to deciding the destination of the title.

Lowly Galwegians will battle hard in their bid to move away from the relegation zone as they host mid-table Ballinasloe. Basement side NUIG are also at home and a victory against Monivea will give their survival hopes a real shot in the arm. Buccaneers travel to mid-table Westport hoping for the win that would secure their Division 1 status.

A vital clash at the top of 1B takes place tonight as promotion hopefuls Corinthians and Tuam face off in Galway.

Sunday sees the other promotion chasers Sligo host bottom side Ballyhaunis in a game they are expected to win. Castlebar need to win in Creggs to maintain their faint promotion hopes while Loughrea seem destined to face a relegation play-off even if they beat fellow strugglers Ballinrobe.

All of the games in Division 1C will be played on Sunday with clubs playing their final games of the regular season. Dunmore and Corrib are neck and neck at the top of the table and will face each other in a play-off for a place in Division 1B next month. Corrib host basement side Claremorris as Dunmore host Carrick and Portumna face Westport.
