Connacht Rugby development officers have established rugby programmes in a number of schools in East Galway as part of a joint venture between Monivea RFC and the IRFU.
Club and Community development officer Darren Collins has an extensive work load supporting Girls and Boys rugby in both Primary and Secondary schools.

Schools such Pres. Athenry, Athenry vocationail school and HRC mountbellew have become ever presents in the Connacht schools competitions while introducing rugby in smaller schools such as Coláiste an Chreagáin ensures all children have an opportunity to reach the Green Shirt. Click here to see pictures from our gallery of Coláiste an Chreagáin players in action.

“East Galway has a proven track record of producing top level athletes, a number of whom have gone on to represent Connacht at age grade level. Our role is to give them and introduction to rugby in the schools and provide the path for them to pursue a club career with Monivea RFC. We pride ourselves on giving every child the opportunity to achieve their sporting dreams and Monivea’s Caolan Blade is proof we are succeeding.”
