Connacht U17’s narrowly lose to Abbeyfeale

Last Saturday, Connacht U17’s girls team were narrowly beaten 22-25 by Abbeyfeale in the Sportsground Galway. Connacht started well, dominating the first quarter before easing off a bit. But they went into the break 17 – 10 ahead, Hannah Davey from Sligo having pulled out a hat trick of tries. However the first 10 minutes of the second half saw the Connacht girls concede three tries and highlighted work yet to be done with the squad.  But the Connacht girls fought back and after several close calls scored when Niamh McManamon blocked a clearance kick behind the try line and was quickest to pounce on it, leaving only three points between them. But that was the final score of the game. The overall assessment has to be that it was an under par performance and they will need to pick up their game if they are to succeed in the next match which will probably be with Ulster.
