The Sportsground, Galway – Sunday 9th September

The U19’s registered a convincing win over the Exiles in the Sportsground last Sunday. Connacht trailed six nil after conceding two penalties in the first fifteen minutes, both of which were converted by Exiles outhalf Sean O’Hagan. Connacht’s Rory Paratta scored the first of his twelve point haul after twenty five minutes, punishing the Exiles indiscipline and bringing the home side to within three points.

That’s how the score stayed until half-time but Connacht’s pressure was mounting and it wasn’t long after the restart that Paratta crossed following a well rehearsed move off a 5m scrum. He added the conversion and extended Connacht lead to four points and with five minutes left in the game, outside centre Andrew McAleer scored from another 5m scrum. This time it was less of a rehearsed move and more quick thinking from the Connacht players as they reacted well to a loose ball to put Andrew in the corner. Paratta added the touchline conversion to leave the final score 17-6 to Connacht.
