Triple-Header At The Sportsground
The Corinthians U16s face Galwegians at 2pm in the second game of the triple-header.

A triple-header of Connacht Youths finals take place this Sunday, April 23, at the Sportsground with teams from Ballina, Corinthians and Galwegians all involved.

The first game of the day kicks off at noon as Ballina and Galwegians face off in the Connacht U14 Cup final; Corinthians and Galwegians will then battle it out for the U16 Cup at 2pm before the U18.5 Cup final will pit Corinthians against Ballina to complete the day’s action (4pm).

It is all set to be a thrilling day of rugby with Ballina slight favourites in the U14 decider. Pipped to the league title by Corinthians, the Mayo club swept past Castlebar and Ballinasloe on their way to the final. Galwegians, meanwhile, overcame Monivea, Sligo and league winners Corinthians.

Corinthians U16 and U18.5 teams will bid to make it a special double for the club in the second two finals. The U16s, fresh from their win in the Conamara Cup last weekend, face Galwegians at 2pm. Corinthians booked their place in the final with wins over Castlebar, Ballina and Monivea while Galwegians had wins over Westport, Buccaneers and Ballinasloe en route to the final.

That will be followed by the U18 Cup final between Corinthians and Ballina at 4pm. This year’s U18.5 competition has seen high quality rugby with no shortage of drama and already Corinthians have had a taste of a final when losing out to Creggs. However, Ballina beat Creggs in the Cup semi-final and also accounted for Castlebar earlier in the competition. Corinthians have defeated Buccaneers and Sligo on their way to the final.

Entry is €5 for adults with U18s free of charge.
