The semi finals for the Elvery’s Connacht Schools Junior Cup will take place in the next two weeks, and here are the teams that have qualified.

CBS Roscommon 18-0 Colaiste Iognaid

Tuesday March 4th, Creggs RFC, 1pm.

It has been an impressive schools cup campaign from the Creggs school. Their first game of the competition was against the much fancied beaten league finalists the Bish, and CBS kept them scoreless in a comfortable 13-0 win. This seemed to spring their campaign into action and they followed that up with impressive wins over Clifden CS (36-5) and St. Muredachs to top Pool B.

Colaiste Iognaid started their campaign with a narrow win away to Marist College with a narrow 6-0 scoreline. This win against the defending champions seemed to give the Jes belief and momentum, and they backed that up with a shock win against Garbally College 10 points to 3 in Galwegians, which lead to them coming out victorious in a tight Pool C.

St. Gerald’s Castlebar v Garbally College

Wednesday 5th March, Breaffy House, 1pm.

The Junior League champions, St. Gerald’s have swept all before them in a strong Pool A. Big shutouts against Gort CS and Summerhill in Sligo were sandwiching an almightly clash against a strong Sligo Grammar side. It was an entertaining clash, with St. Gerald’s ultimatly showing their strength in seeing off the hopes of one of their strongest challengers.

Garbally had a similar experience in Pool C, earning bonus point wins in their first two games against defending champions Marist College and Rice College, with wins of 34-7 and 40-12 respectively. A shock loss to Colaiste Iognaid prevented them from claiming top spot, but the bonus points gathered guaranteed them the best runners up spot.
