The annual Galway Rugby Extravaganza was held in Corinthians RFC on Thursday April 10th. 18 schools from Galway City and county took part in the 2 hour blitz, with close to 70 teams and approximately 700 children playing rugby.
Wendy Hickey, Connacht WCRO, runs the event every year, and was delighted with turnout this year. “The Galway Extravaganza is really the highlight for the children in Galway City and County. Paddy Madden and Conor Galvin worked in the schools and delivered the Play Rugby prgramme throughout the year, and the result of their efforts showed with the number of children attending as well as the qualtiy of the rugby played. I wold firstly like to thank all the referees who helped make this day possible. I would also like to thank Corinthians RFC for the use of their pitches. They support this event every year, and without their support, we would not be able to run an event this big, so many thanks to them.”
