Galway Extravaganza a hit with schools

This year’s Galway Extravaganza took place in Corinthians RFC, with schools from across the city taking part. Each school was given a country to represent, with the best dressed school receiving a prize. Children from 5th and 6th classes from The Claddagh, St. Patrick’s, Buaile Beag, St. Vincent’s Coolarne, Galway Educate Together, Scoil Einde, Na Forbacha, Crumlin and Scoil Naisiunta Mhuire Bawnmore took part in the 2 hour blitz. The blustery and changeable weather didn’t dampen their spirits and some great rugby was played throughout the day. The day was made even more special with appearances from the Connacht Senior squad. Over 300 children took part on the day, and the prize for the best dressed school went to Galway Educate Toegther, dressed as South Africa.

OWendy Hickey, WCRO who coordinated the day, was happy with the turnout. “Year after year, the Extravaganza is the one blitz all the schools look forward to. It was a great day even though the weather wasn’t in our favour at the start. I would like to thank all the school for taking part, and to Corinthians RFC for the use of their facilities again this year”.
