The Guinness PRO12 Trophy continued on its travels last week when it visited three Gaelscoils in Co. Galway.

First up was Scoil Shéamais Naofa, Bearna where the entire school was assembled in the hall, rehearsing for their Christmas play. Connacht Rugby’s Conan O’Donnell, himself a fluent Irish speaker, fielded questions on everything from injuries to favourite foods before posing for photos with the students.

Next on the trophy tour was Scoil na bhForbacha where Connacht Rugby & TG4 Rugby Analyst Eamonn Molloy spoke about the historic season which cumulated in the PRO12 victory. Eamonn was joined by Na Bairneachaí RFC’s Johnny Feeney who had information on training times for the pupils, with a number of them already attending rugby for the club (Training is in McGraths Field, Knocknacarra every Saturday from 10:30)

The final stop was Scoil Einne, An Spideal and as well as visiting the classrooms the trophy got a great reception in the school hall where their Christmas play had just finished and the parents got a glimpse of the coveted trophy as well as insight into the game, from grass roots level right through to the professional setup from Eamonn and Conan. img_8792img_8805img_8816img_8822img_8827img_8834img_8839img_8846img_8853img_8860img_8863img_8871img_8878img_8880img_8883
