Now in their seventh week of pre-season training, the Connacht squad were training at the Sportsground as preparations intensify ahead of the Guinness PRO14 season.

New Head Coach Kieran Keane and recent arrival Jarrad Butler were among those speaking to the media following training with pre-season fixtures against Wasps and at home to Bristol coming up next week.

The season kicks off at the Sportsground in just over two weeks as 2015 PRO12 winners Glasgow Warriors take on 2016 champions Connacht in Galway (Saturday, September 2, 7.35pm). Tickets for Connacht v Glasgow Warriors can be purchased here.

The following weekend will be an historic occasion as Connacht host South African side the Southern Kings for the first time. New additions to the championship, this is a fantastic opportunity to take on a side from the Southern Hemisphere in a competitive fixture for the first time.  Tickets for Connacht v Southern Kings can be purchased here.

Connacht travel to Bernard Jackman’s Newport Gwent Dragons on Friday, September 15, before hosting Welsh side Cardiff Blues on Saturday, September 23, at 3.15pm.

Cardiff finished one place above Connacht last season so this is set to be another very important encounter. Tickets for Connacht v Cardiff Blues can be purchased here.

Before all of that, Connacht host Bristol in the Sportsground at 3pm on Saturday, August 26.

The game will see new Keane take charge of his first home game with former Head Coach Pat Lam leading the opposition.
