Tuam RFC was the venue for a highly competitive and well attended first year blitz in early April. Local school St Jarlaths of Tuam were joined by The Jes Galway, Colaiste Iognaid Oranmore, St Pauls Oughterard, Clifden Community School, Marist College Athlone, St Colman Claremorris, Ballymote and Dunmore.

In total 15 “ten a side” teams were in action with four games in action at all times. The emphasis was on free flowing rugby and the players more than lived up to their side of the bargain with great talent on show throughout the day. Many teams were competing in their first competitions of the season and in some cases their first structured rugby competition ever. When the final whistles sounded all coaches and teachers were delighted with the progress that their schools had made in recent weeks.

Special mention goes to Clifden who took on the 200km  round trip to play the blitz and showed that the future is bright with some outstanding players on show.

Special thanks to all Teachers, Players, Coaches, Referees, Tuam RFC Officials and Connacht Staff for making the event a huge success.
