The Guinness PRO12 was launched at the Diageo Headquarters in Park Royal, London today with all 12 clubs’ captains and coaches in attendance. Pat Lam and John Muldoon were representing Connacht whose season kicks off next week on Saturday, 6th September with Newport Gwent Dragons visiting the Sportsground for a 5pm kick off.
This year’s Guinness PRO12 promises to have added spice with the new European competition qualification system.

Speaking about the revitalised competition, Connacht veteran John Muldoon said today:

“One of our goals this year is to qualify for the new European Champions Cup on our own merit. We can only do that by performing week in week out in the GUINNESS PRO12. Every game and every point is so important now and that makes the league that bit more special.

“The fact that brands like GUINNESS and SKY SPORTS have come on board this year just highlights how much the competition has grown in recent years. I first played in it over ten years ago and there have certainly been a lot of changes, both at Connacht and in the competition since then. As captain looking ahead to a new season, it’s a very exciting time.”
