For the second season in a row, Connacht wing Matt Healy has been named the Player of the Month for January in association with Hartmanns Jewellers  and Seiko Watches.

The 26-year-old was selected as one of three nominees by the management team and his team mates for his impressive performances on the pitch and his hard work and commitment off it. He was then applauded across social media where he won nearly 50% of the votes from the Connacht Rugby supporters.

Healy topped the try scoring last month with three tries in five starts – crossing away to Scarlets and for a brace against Enisei-STM at the Sportsground. The former Ireland U20’s scrumhalf is currently Connacht’s joint top try scorer for the season with Danie Poolman.

Currently in his fourth season with the province, Matt has played and started in 15 of Connacht’s 19 games so far this season in what has been an impressive run for the former Lansdowne FC back.

Commenting on the January Player of the Month, Team Manager Tim Allnutt said:

“It’s little surprise that Matt has won this award. He has had a fantastic season with us and is a very popular player among our supporters who undoubtedly have enjoyed watching him run in some fantastic tries again this season.”

Richard Hartmann, Director of Hartmann Jewellers added:

“Once again this season, Matt has been one of the most thrilling players to watch in Irish rugby and we, along with the supporters, are delighted to present him with this Player of the Month award.”
