Connacht Rugby are delighted to announce the opening of 6 internships with the Domestic Rugby Department.

The positions have been created with the help of the National Internship Scheme, and will offer six candidates the opportunity to gain invaluable, practical, experience across a number of areas of rugby including coaching and sports development.

Domestic Games Manager for Connacht, Lyndon Jones, said:

We are very happy to be able to offer six internships in our Domestic Rugby Department across the province as we head into a new and exciting season ahead.”

Description

The intern will gain practical experience in coaching in a professional work environment with National and Secondary Schools. The intern will also gain practical experience working with underage development squads. The intern will receive formal/informal training in the following; Rugby Coaching, Tutoring on Coaching Courses and Sports Development. On completion the intern will have attained skills in coaching and sports development. The intern will also gain experience in communicating and dealing with NGB s, Sports Partnerships, rugby clubs and schools. Finally they will gain tutoring experience on Coaching Courses (Mini and Foundation IRFU Courses).

Skills Requirements

The person should show a strong interest and involvement with rugby, be willing to learn, be highly self motivated, be comfortable working as part of a team, be an excellent communicator and show good time management skills. A full clean drivers licence would be a requirement.

This is an Internship. An allowance of €50 per week will be paid in addition to your current Social Welfare payment. See eligibility criteria here

Education Requirements

Third Level – IRFU Mini and Foundation Courses are essential. IRFU Level1 / Level2 Coaching Accreditations are desirable along with a third level degree in a sports related course
