Last Sunday the Ireland Schools team were crowned FIRA-AER Under 18 European Champions following their final win over England in Tarbes France on a scoreline of 17pts to 8. Marist Colleges Robert Henshaw started in the no.13 jersey as he had done in the excellent semi final win over France. Sligo Grammar were also represented by Thomas Ferrari on the Ireland Schools squad. England’s heavier pack had an advantage in the scrum but Ireland were sharper in most other facets of the game.Henshaw was prominent in attack and defence throughout the game bringing off a tremendous tackle on the England no.8 yard from the Irish line in the last few minutes of the game.
It was Ireland’s 4th time to reach the final(they lost to France in 2007, 2008, and 2010) but this was the first season for the Schools to compete in the competition instead of the clubs.

It has been a great few months for Henshaw his School Marist CollegeĀ  his Club Buccaneers and for Connacht Rugby
3 international School Caps to date against Scotland ,France, and England 3 wins and a European Championship medal.
