Over 3, 500 supporters gathered around the main pitch at the Sportsground this morning to witness head coach Joe Schmidt put his Ireland players through their paces at the Open Training Session.  Pat Lam’s Connacht team were also hard at in training against the team unbeaten in this year’s 6 Nations Championship.

Connacht’s own Robbie Henshaw was the centre of attention as he lined out in the green of Ireland in front of his home supporters. The 21-year-old has played seven games for Ireland, including two starts in this year’s 6 Nations.

Following the hour-long pitch session, both the Ireland and Connacht players dispersed themselves around the ground for plenty of selfies and autographs with the young supporters.
