The curtain raiser to this season’s Heineken Junior Cup Final sees an all J1C clash between Ballinrobe and Dunmore (kick-off 13:00 Sunday 27th March @ the Sportsground)
The two sides have met twice already in the league with Ballinrobe beating Dunmore 19-7 when they travelled to the Fairgreen last October but the rematch in The Green, Ballinrobe saw the two side share the spoils in a dramatic 13 all draw when they met again in November.
The league table proves just how little there is between the two sides, both clubs occupy the top spot winning 6 out of eight fixtures, losing just one each and sharing the points from the draw to leave both teams level on 31 points which sets up a truly unique Heineken Junior Plate final this Sunday.
In an added twist to the fixture, the two clubs were drawn against each other in the first round of the Junior Cup, Dunmore knocking Ballinrobe out with a 5-3 victory at home, while Dunmore were knocked out in the next round to Cup finalists Westport.
Dunmore booked their place in the Plate final after beating Loughrea in the semi-final while Ballinrobe trounced Corrib 19-9 in their semi to set up this mouthwatering clash between the two sides.
This is the fourth time the two clubs will have met this season and the record stands at a win, a loss and a draw so it’s all down to the final to decide who will have the ultimate bragging rights this season.
