This season’s Top Oil Junior Emerging Schools Cup Final was an all Sligo affair with St Attracta’s Tubbercurry taking on Enniscrone’s Jesus & Mary in the Sportsground on Wednesday. Enniscrone’s captain Rian Grimes opened the scoring with an excellent team try and outhalf Bradley Nealon added the conversion to give them a seven point lead just two minutes into the game. Nealon tagged on a penalty shortly afterwards but just before half-time St Attracta’s struck back with a try from their own captain #8 Tony Healy. Sean Doyle added the conversion to make it a three point game but Jesus & Mary nearly had the last say of the half, Nealon’s penalty kick bouncing off the upright.Eoin Hallinan dots down for Enniscrone
Tubbercurry kick-started the scoreboard in the first minute of the second half through a Sean Doyle penalty but almost from the restart Enniscrone’s Owen Hallinan smashed his way over the St Attracta’s line for a try that Bradley Nealon converted. Two minutes later prop Sean Byrne crossed for a try for St Attractas but Doyle’s kick was wide. He made up for that error with a well struck penalty to put St Attracta’s into the lead for the first time in the match with ten minutes to go but it wasn’t to be for the Tubbercurry school as Bradley Nealon scored a match winning try for Enniscrone with virtually the last play of the game, the conversion bringing the final score to St Attracta’s Tubbercurry 18 – 24 Jesus & Mary Enniscrone
