Connacht Rugby are welcoming applications for the role of Marketing Communications Executive on a six-month, specified-purpose contract.

 

LOCATION:

Working remotely from home and occasionally, when required, at The Sportsground, College Road, Galway.

 

ROLE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Marketing Communications Exec is an exciting, new, specified-purpose contract for a period of six months, and will require the individual to work remotely, whilst connecting with the wider Commercial & Marketing Team virtually.

Reporting directing to the Media & PR Manager, this digitally savvy person will be responsible for developing and maintaining a ‘best in class’ level of quality content of marketing across all our social media and digital channels.

The individual should have an excellent understanding of marketing, marketing campaigns, social media, how to engage audiences across various platforms, graphic design and video-editing skills.

This creative individual will have outstanding communication skills and be a natural multitasker. They should have previous brand-building experience in developing, editing and analyzing effective content and Marketing materials.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Content Generation: Design, develop, edit and deliver content across all Social Media and Digital Marketing platforms.
  • Community Management: Monitoring and responding in real time across all Connacht Rugby’s digital and social community, building strong relationships with supporter groups, active fans, virtual fans, and other key stakeholders via social media interaction.
  • Virtual Fan Zone/Membership Platform Development: Work directly with the Digital & Data Manager on delivering a compelling virtual engaging experience for Supporters on Match Week.
  • Match Day Content: General assistance and capturing of Match Day Content at The Sportsground, alongside the Media & PR Manager.
  • Club & Community Team Lead: Develop great stories in conjunction with the Club and Community team and bring these to life on specific Club and Community channels
  • Other tasks as required by the Media & PR Manager and Digital & Data Manager

 

EXPERIENCE / BACKGROUND

The candidate should have:

  • A desire to start or grow a career in Marketing Communications within the professional sports industry.
  • 2 years’ experience in a Digital Marketing environment
  • A track record in designing and developing engaging social media content
  • Proven relationship building skills. A real team player.
  • Clear understanding of Digital Marketing, Social Media and Consumer Engagement
  • Proficiency in and previous experience managing brand accounts on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube,
  • A practical knowledge of WordPress and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite – particularly Photoshop, Premiere Pro and InDesign – for brand building purposes.
  • Be creative, innovative and adaptive.
  • A passion for rugby, sports marketing and most importantly for people.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Outstanding communications skills, particularly written skills for copywriting.
  • A digital native with ability to develop, edit and analyse content across Social Media, Website and E-Marketing platforms
  • Graphic design and video-editing
  • Creativity and Multitasking

 

WORKING PATTERN & TERM

The successful candidate will be expected to work appropriate hours from home in order to fully carry out one’s responsibilities.  The nature of the work is such that these hours may be irregular or outside the norm i.e. during evenings and at weekends (including Sundays).  This is a specified purpose contract for six months only. However, there may be opportunity to extend this contract beyond this time period if the candidate proves successful. This will be reviewed by the Connacht Rugby Leadership Team.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Operational & Functional: The position will report directly to the Media & PR Manager. He / She will have a dotted line into the Digital and Data Manager, working together on a regular basis, particularly in the area of Supporter Engagement via the 1885 Membership Club.

They will also work with the wider Commercial & Marketing and Club & Community Teams, as required.

 

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

Key performance measures include:

  • Supporter engagement on Digital & Social Channels, including Club & Community sites
  • Growth in the Virtual Fan Zone numbers
  • Growth of supporter database, quality and quantity of supporter data
