Summerhill v Garbally College

The first game in this Junior Cup campaign was a clash between Summerhill College, Sligo and Garbally College, Ballinasloe.

The game took place in Summerhill on the 14th of January at 12:00.

Darragh Cummins playing outhalf got the scoring underway with a try in  the corner after 15 minutes. He converted to make it 7-0.
Garbally’s outhalf then slotted over 2 penalties to make it 7-6 before Darragh Cummins returned with a penalty of his own to make it a 4 point game in favour of Summerhill. Then just before half time Garbally strung a number of good phases together, scoring a good try finished by their second row. They were unable to convert.

The second half was low scoring with good defence from both teams until Garbally’s flanker scored a try in the last 5 minutes of the game, the try was converted to make put them 10-18 up on the scoreboard.

Summerhill threw everything at them for the last 4 minutes but were unable to penetrate a good Garbally defence.

Summerhill 10- Garbally 18
