Junior Division 1A

In what has been a stop-start league campaign across the province due to the inclement weather to date, Galwegians have emerged as the Junior Division 1A leaders going into the second half of the season. With four victories, a draw and five bonus points they sit a point ahead of Westport with a game in hand. Ballinasloe lie in third place just two points off the top of the table but have played two games more and Ballina, with six games played are only five league points off the leaders so there’s still plenty to play for as we head into the New Year.

Junior Division 1B

Creggs are leading the way in the second tier of the junior leagues suffering only their second defeat of the season to NUIG last weekend. The Roscommon based outfit had remained unbeaten since the first round of the competition when they lost narrowly to Castlebar and this young Creggs side have accumulated five bonus points from their eight matches to leave them on 29 points. Tuam and NUIG share second place on 24 points with the Students holding a game in hand whilst Castlebar, with four victories from seven matches, lie in fourth on 19 points.

Junior Division 1C

Nothing separates Dunmore and Ballinrobe at the top of J1C with both clubs having won four out of their six games to date. A 13 all draw between the two sides at the end of November proving that there is very little, if anything, to separate the two teams while Corrib can still make serious inroads in the league standings with victories in the two games they have outstanding. They lie in third on seven points so will be looking to pull maximum points from their remaining fixtures to stay in contention whilst Claremorris will look to consolidate their league position with their remaining fixtures in their first campaign at this level.

Pos Team Played Points
1 Dunmore 6 21
2 Ballinrobe 6 21
3 Corrib 4 7
4 Claremorris 4 4
5 Galwegians 4 0

Junior Division 2

Carrick-on-Shannon lead the way in J2 with four wins and a draw and 19 league points from their six matches so far. Portumna hold two games in hand over them, and are just three points behind so any result for them in their outstanding matches can see them take over the top spot. Oughterard, with three victories from five, are hot on their heels with 13 points and Westport’s 2XV lie in fourth, three points behind them. There’s plenty of matches still to be played in this league and with NUIG 2XV and Corinthians having recorded just two matches each it is way too early to call anything in this 12 team league.
